Sidney Strikes Again!
New diary entry. Continue the baseball discussion here. Even though it's kind of breaking one of the tenets of the RWD Social Contract.

I'm going to miss the diary! Will you find some other witty things to say on Bat-Girl or are you done?? You did great!! :) I've been on and off the Sid bandwagon and I feel sorry for the guy, but I'm excited to see who will be called up for Saturday's start...
Sidney Ponson is now gone. I am surprised they let him play for the Twins this long. I noticed that the Twins management is concerned about the level of play as of late.
Two things:
First, I bet Terry Ryan files Ponson in the same file as Batista and Sierra as the reasons why solving problems (even if it is just filling holes) with free agents "isn't the answer" (even though most of the other teams have spent money to plug holes and ended up benefitting, just ask Oakland).
Second, the reason why the level of play hasn't been good so far is obviously because of Cirillo's injury early on and Rondell White's current injury. The fact that Morneau is playing injured and Mauer is injured only makes it amazing that the Twins can even win a single game at all.
Ok, seriously, the level of play will be only minimally modified with Ponson now gone. I feel bad for Sidney because it appeared at least that he's come back trying hard to rebuild his career. With Rick Anderson (who I believe is the best pitching coach in the AL and the second best pitching coach in the majors behind Duncan of St. Louis) I thought it would be a possibility. Anyways, too bad.
Right now we can only hope that the Twins turn it around and the Tigers, White Sox, and Indians hit a major slump.
I'll miss the diary. Perhaps you can take it up with another player?
I, however, will NOT miss Sid. I was ready to throw something at him on Saturday. Good thing I can control myself:)
Blogger isn't being nice to me.
Potential diary entries could be from:
Carlos Silva
Jesse Crain
Juan Rincon
Jason Kubel
Luis Rodriguez
Does Josh Rabe even play?
Is Tyner still with the club?
How about a view from the stands from Ron-DL White?
Oh, and nice showing tonight by the Twins. I knew Cleveland was better than the Twins but...wow. Oh, and CC Sebathia vs. Silva. Ouch. This will be ugly.
It's going to be a long season up here.
Is it possible that we are sucking WORSE than with Ponson?
I wouldn't say they are worse than with Pontoon, but they aren't any better now that he's gone. There are much bigger problems than Sidney Ponson.
For instance:
Finding someone to fill the 5 slot who won’t do worse. We all know Baker is going to get the first shot, and quite frankly I’d rather see Ponson. At least there is a chance of a decent outing. I have a feeling Baker is going to go where former Twins go to die… the Reds organization. Where he can meet up with Balfore, Mays, Castro, Milton and I think Rivas is there too.
The hitters and pitchers need to be on the same page. It seems when one does well the other does not.
The Twins need a legitimate 3rd baseman. If you were to rank MLB 3rd basemen, guess where Punto finishes. If you said 30th you'd be correct.
I think a LF would also be nice, preferably a power hitting right hander. Let's face it even the Devil Rays have better options there.
Rick Anderson is great, but the guy isn’t god. The 2-5 guys really need to step it up, or a deal needs to be made. There's plenty of highly rated pitching talent to deal. Too bad there isn’t much else.
If things don't change it's going to be a long close battle... to avoid finishing behind the Royals. (sigh)
Come on people you don't really expect her to do the diaries for another player, do you?
It would be cheap and unoriginal. Kind of like redoing Major League with players being Cubs.
RWD,
Twins blogs across the internet are talking of how sad they are regarding BG's retirement. I did find this comment on Joe C's blog this afternoon though....

"I also had just recently discovered Batgirl, but I was an instant fan. I couldn’t help but laugh as I watched each terrible Sidney Ponson start, knowing that there would be another v.v.g. diary entry the next morning."
Kudos to RWD/DonnaLove! You were great!! Sorry about Sid, by the way!! :(
